Lois Rhebergen. She has willingly given up her time to help make possible the publication of this yearbook. Her unfailing good humor has kept her classes very interesting. She has also helped 'to keep the morale of the Torch Staff very high during some very trying times. The members of the yearbook staff and of her various classes have all enjoyed working with her. She has been s lifesaver to us through the seemingly endless hours of cutting and pasting. We would like to wish her a lot of luck in her future years of yearbook work and teaching. 3 e 9' 'y X -Sr e , - g D v' 1 , - 1. 1 - - 1 I - - 0 - - , , 1 4, ,, , 1 1 , I ,K 1 f ' 1 - -gA I f 1' 1 nQ . . - 0 '. - 1 1 1 1 1 7- --. .. ,' 'x. . ,' ,--'. -Us 1 K xx I 1 QQ I1 : f ,' - '-' - . We speak glibly ofthe full life, the good life anddflie is what you make it. We even say facetiously that the first hundred years are the ha s . 3 In a lifetime of 15 years, David Danes accoplished no world-shattering achievements. But, wait a minute. Did not David live his strong religious beliefs with such shining light that he was an inspiration to all who knew him? Did not David play his French horn so gayly and expertly that his School Band was richer for his contribution? Did not David stacy and search in the wonders of Science, Uathemstics, latin and History to enrich his eager mind and heart? David's teachers. and friends mark his achievements 1001. With a sincere smile and a hearty Hi-there, David greeted his multitude of friends even on his most pain-filled days. His parents, his brother, his teachers, his classmates, were all people to whom he had much to give, and much he gave from his wam, exuberant, yet gentle personality. Surely, a full lite can not be measured in number of years. If we may all live up to the abundant measure of fair friendship, keen search for knowledge, truth in religious expression, and music and joy in every day's living as exemplified :Ln the fifteen years of David Dunes, we shall most certainly achieve the Good Life. lx I I at -ss 1 Q, ll lp CD 'av ' ,.Q .Q f f I , 1 I I T ' I 1 Q 1 1 . . The Assoc1ation meets twice a month- once to discuss the general problems of teaching, and the other meeting deals with problems arising in everyday school busi- ness. These activities included a bake sale, a movie benefit, and a square dance, All were successful. During our Sophomore year, we held several dances. For the first time , a Sadie Hawlclns Day Dance was held and was a lot of fun. Barbara Selignan, our class president, helped lead our school year to a successful close. The biggest thrill of our Junior year was the purchase of our class rings. Jknother event was the Junior Prom with the theme Alice in Wonderland. John West was elected president of the Junior Class. To guide us through our Senior Year, we elected these officers: John West, President, Barbara Selignan, Vice-Presidentg JoAnn Novak, Secretary, Margo Hood, Treasurer 3 Boy and Girl Representatives, Larry Nerkle and Marie Miller. Our Senior year has proved to be our busiest with the magazine drive, Senior Ball, several square dances and the Senior Trip to New York. Wifh hardly six weeks of school left after returning hom New York until graduation, the seniors realized how quickly their last year at Attica Central School had passed. Marv of the members of the Class of 1957, which is one of the largest ever graduated fran Attica Central, planned to attend college in the future. y CIASS ADVISORS MISS BRAYER and MR. Parents, social agencies and law enforcement officers have considered long and carefully the effects of this pattern on the lives of young people. The trend now seems to be reversed and those who are trying to guide and direct the youth of our land are taking a firmer stand regarding discipline, laws, rules and regulations. The team concept is becoming a part of the education of every present day student. Every individual is a member of a society group whether in a classroom, on a baseball team, in a ship's crew or in an industrial shop and what each person does affects directly the conduct and activity of his group. This close association in and out of school makes it necessary that each student be guided by certain definite regulations and directions. Much of our work is aimed at teaching good habits of conduct that are acceptable to the group in which the student lives. This we call discipline. We expect the trend toward more strict regulations and higher standards of conduct to con- tinue and we are in favor of this trend. We believe that only by the formation of good habits of work and living can a person be happy in life among his fellow men.
