No one is more worthy than he, who has served this school for the past eight years. He helped to mold and shape individuals into useful and worthy citizens. Richly endowed with kind- ness, strength of character, and vision, llr. 0'Connor might well have been the person Richard Savage had in mind when he composed the phrase, 'HE LIVES TO BUILD, NOT BOAST, A GENHIOUS FACE. filmhflvifa Dfw N r J CWJ7 W Q lr. King administers the policies of the school board, assists in choosing the teachers, selects and schedules the courses taught. Right nal, s great deal of his time must be spent in planning for the new building program. In spite of these heavy responsibilities, llr. King still finds time to help and advise individual students and teachers. PETER P. KING, PRINCIPAL h LOWELL B. FOX - ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL 14857 Assistant principal Lowell B. Fox spends more than half' of his schoo on administrative duties. However, he finds time to be head of a mathematics department which has an outstanding record. After school, he coaches bowling and tennis. His bowlers won county championships in team and doubles com- llr. Under our first class president, Ken Herman, we held a successful movie benefit. While we were sophomores under president Richard Molinari, we had a dance and a bake sale. As proud upperclassmen we elected these officers: President, R. Richard Molinari, Vice- President, Kenneth Herman, Secretary, Karen Logelg Treasurer, John Gatgeng Girl Representative, Nancy Guerting and Boy Representative , 'Ihomas Bennion. Our junior play, The Night of January l6th , directed by Miss Brayer, was acclaimed as the best in years. 'Stairway to the Stars , our Junior Prom was also one of the most successful SEATED: C-lor, Molinari, Logel in years. We continued raising money for our STANDING: Heller. Bennion. Gatzen trip with regular dues, a bake sale, and a dance.. To see us through our busiest year, we chose these officers: President, Richard Molinari, Vice-President, Jane Glory Secretary, Karen Logelg Treasurer, John Gatgeng Girl Representative, Eldora Heller 5 Boy Representative, 'lhoxms Bennion. We had to do well on our magazine drive and we did. We used the new canopy for the first time at the Gancwland Ball. Our senior play, Rhearsal for Death , was again directed by Miss Breyer. We also raised money at our dance, and at a concession stand at the football and basketball games. Our class broke with tradition and decided to go to Washington on our Senior Trip. After we came home, we really 'settled dovm to the business of graduation. As we did these things, This is the last, this is the last , sounded :Ln our heads like a broken record, but we realize now that this is not only an end, but a beginning. As we leave our school to go out into the world, to face new and greater responsibilities, 1re look back with pride, satisfaction, and even nostalgia on our high school years. ADVISORS Hr. George O'Connor Mrs. Lois Rhebergen 13 I wish to address this message to the members of the graduating class of the Attica Central School and congratulate those who are completing a high school program. You deserve special credit for finishing the course that was started when you entered high school. In New York nearly one-half of the number entering high school drop out before completing the requirement for graduation. The record of this class far exceeds the average for the State and I believe they deserve recognition. It is true that all phases are constantly changing and this :ls no less true of the school life of our yotmg people. We are giving increased attention to the study of subjects, an understanding of which is required in our highly industrial country. Mathematics, sciences and languages are gaining an increasingly important position in our high school program. At the same time we are not losing sight of the importance of good English, proper spelling, legible writing and the ability to speak and express our thoughts to others. ihese are areas which need our constant attention. It is my hope that these young people will find that the courses they have studied will prepare them adequately for the various directions they will follow after graduation. 1h PAUL ALIETEI P,J. When they were sophomores, under president Barbara Seligman, they had another square dance and had a very successful Sadie I-Iawkin's style round dance. Great excitement attended the choice of the class rings which were ordered in the early fall, and the class was wearing them proudly in December. This year, with John West as president, the class sponsored two successful square dances and the Junior Prom. They put on a wonderful Junior Play which was directed by Miss Dillienzo and Mr. Zavitz. Since the faculty has long felt movie benefits, bake sales and other selling campaigns too great a burden on the community, they must be discontinued. Instead, the class is raising money for its Senior trip by a rigorous dues system. 'Ihe Attica Chapter of the Future Farmers of America has grovm and improved steadily. Three years ago, there were forty farm boys taking agriculture, now there are seventy. For the last three years, they have been the champion seed salesmen in the state. This year, in competition such as Achievement Day, Rally Day and the County Fair, the teams from Attica did better than ever. Each year, the F.F.A. helps to send several representatives to the state F.F.A. Convention, and to the National F.F.A. Convention at Kansas City, Missouri. Every summer several boys attend the State F.F.A. Camp in the Adirondacks. 'lhe chapter also has the annual Father and Son Banquet, an annual Harvest Dance, a Christmas party, and summer meetings in the park, followed by a party. The meetings, conducted under strict parliamentary rules, provide excellent training for the members. fu1 ' if C FRONT now: Sheer, J. - Almeter, Acquard, 5337-'e Kriger, E.Merkle, flrauscht, Reisdcrf, Sawyer, Royce 2ND E-QE: C.Becker, Uafzger, P.Almeter, Hickox, Fuest, ltr.
