Both are regarded with great respect by their pupils and well liked by all. The first is Miss Grace Pollock, a music teacher here at Attica. Miss Pollock has been with us for 20 years, but in November, she became seriously ill and was forced to leave Attica Central. Miss Pollock was in charge of choral groups, and up until this year, she directed the orchestra. She has been more than a music instructor to the students at Attica, giving them friendship and understanding at all times, as well as love for the fun in music, has been her goal. To Miss Pollock go the deepest thanks and appreciation of all A.C.S. The second is Mr. Robert Taylor, science teacher, and, for the last three and one-half years, and advisor to the Class of l95h. Mr. Taylor has worked unceasingly with our class in its money-raising projects through the years. He has been a patient, thorough, and fun-loving science teacher to hundreds of students. Words alone cannot express our gratitude to Mr. Taylor. L l 5 DEDICATION ADMINISTRATION SENIORS CLASSES GRADES DISTRICT SCHOOLS SPORTS ACTIVITIES Q THEME We chose a circus theme for our yearbook this b year GCBUSS., HS SOIIB One so appropriately put it, our four years in high school have been one big circus. we had our serious moments and deriv d e a great deal from our high school education, but no matter how hard we tried, we were monkeying around like clowns. The Class of 195h has used the circus theme for many social functions, and it seemed natural to carry it over into the NTorchW for 19511. 6 ' X N I f w N 4, I M. lml f Y I V I g N l 1 IH r I '. r , l M Y 'i3 vJf,f It ' W m efW . BLOM .-5 fy-F ff 5 C 7 if m if X ..2!.... ,X 8 K X f QQ 4.- V The first Board of Officials for the Central School District was elected in June, 1953. The elected officials include President, Murlin W. Seligmang Vice-President, Edwin Francis, Victor Andrews, Clerk, Burt F. Dis- browg and Victor Andrews, Irvin E. Domes, Albert Joller, Mrs. Mary Perl and Ainsworth Sondericker. Their primary duties are employment of teachers and other school personnel. They determine policies for the school year and plan the budget and expenditures for the districts. The big problem immediately ahead of them is the planning of a building program for the district. This Board faces numerous responsibilities. Among many, the largest is to accommodate the parents, faculty and students of this area. It is only through our cooperation that they can make our educational program a successful one. STANDING: Andrews, Domes, Joller, Sondericker, Francis SEATED: Disbrow, Seligman, Mrs. Perl 'FD M . PETER KING, PRINCIPAL You have gone to school and graduated during a time when the activities and methods of teaching in the public schools of our country have been receiving much discussion and some criticism. It is true that our schools have changed in the course of a generation just as other organizations in our life and society have changed. You have been fortunate in attending a school which is rather formal and traditional in operation and has not turned too far up the road marked, nModern.N This school believes that a pupil's experience should be, primarily, one of learning and that teachers are employed and directed to teach the students. The preparation of lessons, regular attendance and good conduct are considered basically sound in the train- ing of every individual. Each of you has progressed under this system. I urge you to recall your school experiences in the years directly ahead and weigh carefully those that were of greatest value to you. What would you change in our system? How would you improve its opportunities? Your answers will help direct plans for the growth and progress of our school system in whatever changes are to be made. ' VICEE e dgk E gf MRS. They are certainly two of the busiest groups in the school. People walk in and 4 out of the office a hundred times a day asking for simple little things that they could perfectly well do for themselves.- These minor annoyances only serve ' to drive Miss Beglinger and Mrs. Haupt-man to the madhouse. Mrs. Joyce may join them on their Journey, --::.,,, after coping with the sick kids running down and the tardy ones or the school skippers running in. Mrs. Henneberg helps hold fort in the last half of the year. She's our Dental Hygienist. In our Freshmen year, we held Uthen Freshmen Party, and a Bake Sale. Wayne warner was elected President, Lorraine Pruchnowski, Veep, Lee Andrews, Secretary, Jack Novak, Treasurer, and the representatives were Joan Stedman and Roger Burg. In our Sophomore year we looked forward, with great enthusiasm, to when we would be Juniors! That year we elected Wayne Werner as President, Francis Pieri as Veep, Jack Novak as Treasurer, Lee Andrews as Secretary, and Carol Hay and Roger Burg as representatives. We held bake sales and Square Dances, which turned out quite well considering how worried our advisors were. Aa Juniors we really went to town in making money. We held sweat shirt, button, and emblem sales, two square dances, our Junior Prom, and the Junior- Senior Banquet. The people who led us in these projects were: President, Wayne Werner, Veep, Roger Burg, Treasurer, Jack Novak, Secretary, Edith Youngs, and the Class Representatives, Elaine Austin and Roger Burg. Our advisors were Mr. Taylor and Mr. Abraham. Seniors! Hurrah, we made it! As Seniors we elected Wayne Werner, Jack Novak and Roger Burg to the same offices as before. The new ones were Mary Kirby, Secretary, Donna Green, Representative, Francis Pieri, Veep. In our Senior Year we held bake sales, square dances, the Senior Ball, the Senior Play, and went on our Senior Trip. ' T Next stop, the cruel, cold world, but will we love it! When we were Freshmen, looking ahead at the next four years, the time seemed endless. looking back now, however, those same years have flown by. - ' 16 SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS Novak, Kirby, Green, Pieri, Werner, Burg www, nr mn? 0 , ,' an Vf S - A Q . Coach Conk and Coach Panek started the boys on a single wing offense and switched to a T formation in midseason. The result was a won five, lost two record. if The majority of the starting eleven will graduate this year, but there are many underclassmen to replace them and try to keep the County Championship in Attica. , N 64 XX EQ' MA A659 .A ' . . ,.. m...? The infield remains neatly in tact with Bissell calling signals, Novak at first, Andrews at the keystone and Werner on the hot corner. In the outfield Meisner, Dudek, Wehner, and Burg remain. Also many new faces are appearing in the scene. In the pitching department, Novak, Dudek, West, Wagner and Pieri are still available. - It seems that with these veterans and the many newcomers that Attica could look for- ward to a very successful season. At least our hopes are high.
