WE HONOR E CATHERINE MCCARTHY To Catherine D. McCarthy, who in her sincere and faithful service at the Attica High School, has established a record for pa- tience, we most gratefully and respectfully dedicate The Torch. In her three years at our school, Miss McCarthy has shown us the value of a competent instructor and true friend. Her virtues have not gone unnoticed, for such qualities can not easily be for- gotten. We, the students of A. H. S. most sincerely hope that many more students in this, and other schools may continue to enjoy the pleasure of such a valuable acquaintance. 3

We, the Senior Class and the members of the Torch Staff of 1947, take pride in presenting to our fello'w students and friends the thirteenth issue of The Torch. During our four years in high school we have been undergoing a training period in preparation of our entrance into the turbulent world. Through our intellectual endeavors, our participation in athletics, music, dramatics, student government and other extra- curricular activities we have developed responsibility, sportsman- ship, respect for the rights of others, self-confidence, and a sense of values which have fortified us for our advance into the democratic way of life. Reminiscence of our four years is pleasant. We are thankful to our principal, our teachers and our fellow students for the part they played in our career. The study, the fun, and the heartaches taught us facts and ideals which will be 'with us always. The ideals and standards which we have formulated will aid us to share in our in- alienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It is with heavy but appreciative hearts that we bid a fond farewell to the scene of our joys and our sorrows, Attica High School. It is our ardent wish that our lives will be exemplary of the prin- ciples we have learned here. 2
