CLASS OF SOPHOMORE OFFICERS President ..... .... M ary Lou Suess Vice-President .... .. Allen Whitcomb Secretary ...... .. Sally Ostertag Treasurer .......... Sally Buchanan Girl Representative .... .. .Jean Rifenberg Boy Representative. . . . . Norman Ripstein Last year as our class of 1949 entered its first year in high school, we started things off right by electing the following as our leaders: Howard Novak, Edward Schmidt, Catherine Glor, Carol Cal- kins, Norman Ripstein, and Mary Lou Suess. Under their leadership and that of Miss French, Miss Sadler and Mr. Barons, we held our get together party, an assembly and a party later in the spring. All members of the class agree that it was a happy and successful year. With our eyes wide open, as spirited sophomores we entered our second year, which proved our class as one of the most actively engaged in the school program. After an exciting, close and colorful campaign, capable officers were elected. This started the year off with a bang, and we got right into the swing of things by staging a party in the high school, which was enjoyed by everyone attending. One of our glowing achievements of the year was our successful Sophomore Dance, which swelled not only our heads, but also our treasury. At the dance everyone enjoyed the music of the Wyom- ing Woodchoppers. At present we are looking forward to our dance which is to be held late in the spring. We had planned our sophomore assembly but it was postponed by the closing of school due to bad weather. Each and every one of us wish to thank our class advisors, Miss Kennedy, Miss Mc- Carthy and Mrs. McKinstry, who, with their help and advice, made the year more pleasant and en- joyable for us. Now as the school year is drawing to a close we can say we have had a good and prosperous year, but as we strive for our ever-nearing goal of becoming seniors and graduating, we hope for an even more successful year as juniors. 26

We started our first year in high school with the election President ....... . Vice President .... Secretary .... Treasurer ......... Girl Representative. . . Boy Representative.. CLASS CF of the following Webber Griffin . . . . . . .Leo Brady Muriel Spencer .. Carol Cooper . . . . .Jean Geise . . . George Rice officers : Our first get-together was a masquerade party. Dancing and games were enjoyed by all and re- freshments topped off the evening's fun. A second evening of fun was held in January when many of the class went on a hay ride. We held our Freshman Assembly on March 2-1-5 a radio program packed with laughs and talent. Many of the members of our class have been very active in sports, school clubs, plays, and the orchestra. As this is being written we are looking forward to a spring party, which will be our last as Freshmen. This concludes a brief outline of our first year in high school, which included both fun and hard work. We wish to thank our Advisors, Mrs. Crandall, Mr. Fox and Mr. Barons for all the help they have given us throughout the year. We are looking forward to that it will help to make the class of 1950 one to be proud of.
