Claaa Hiatonq It seems like yesterday that fifty-four green new- comers walked into the large halls of A.H.S. We were timid but proud to be in the halls with the older students and enjoy their freedoms. In order to summerize the few short years at the red brick building where learning and excitement were enjoyed--- We elected freshman class officers as follows: presi- dent, Jim Bob Mickleg vice-president, Shirley Gustusg secretary, Glenda Marisg and treasurer, Janis Sichts. John Marr and Jerry Lofton were elected student coun- cil representatives. Through all the pandemonium we postponed the selection of a class motto, color, and flower until the following year. Our class sponsors were Mr. Daugherty and Mrs. Laughlin. The next year we were sophomores. The officers elected were Jerry Lefton, presidentg John Marr, vice- presidentg Cherie Toll, secretary and Janis Sichts, treasurer. Lavender and black were our class colors with the yellow carnation as our class flower. Mr. Suttle and Miss Holihan were our sponsors. Then in 1956 we were juniors with a little authority. By electing class officers we began our third year of high school. They were as follows: Jerry Lefton, presidentg John Marr, vice-president, Suella Grady, secretary and Janis Sichts, treasurer. Black and white were our class colors, black gardenia our flower and The door to success is labeled push our motto. df' -r 1 , vfj, 1 X V F Mt'-wftwn. , ' i 'tw 1 , s x 'h sh his fl an

Our first play, Mother is a Freshman, was given and proved to be quite a success. In early May was our Junior Prom, the theme being Treasure in the Depths. Sue Miller was crowned queen with her junior attend- ants, Glenda Maris and Shirley Gustus. at her side. Mr. Lambert and Mrs. Linn were our sponsors. Finally the long awaited and talked about year came. We were 'Seniors of 19572 The senior class officers were: president, Dick Schwartzg vice-president, Dave Daugherty, secretary, Eric Holm and Janis Sichts, treasurer. Our class colors were crimson and white, the flower, the American beauty rose and the motto was Don't itch for success, scratch for it. We all worked hard and enjoyed itg finally the big pay off came. We took our senior trip to Washington, D.C. for six days. The senior play, Gir1 Shy, was presented in early March. In May was the Junior-Senior Prom given in our honor. It was decorated beautifully to the theme, Moong1ow. Senior attendants were Mary Ruth Nolen and Sankey Raisor. May 12 was the date of baccalaureate at the Methodist Church. Commencement services were held May 24 in the gymnasium. We ended our long awaited journey with a total of 53. Mr. Lambert and Mrs. Linn, our sponsors, worked faithfully with us through the year and our sincere thanks goes to them and the entire faculty. The years to come will, we hope, be as happy and eventful as the years we spent in high school. ga 'Q .4v kv' l'l 61- .3 1 'J 'sn
