CUP UNC NGN S We noticed on a signboard a picture that was getting much publicity. It was John's Other Wife starring Betty Turner. J ohn's wife is being played by Hazel Osborne. As we neared the studio we had to be identified before entering. The guard turned out to be Derlan Beardsly. He certainly looked nice in his uni- form. Derlan always did have a manly physique. He recognized us imme- diately and we didn't have any trouble at all in getting a pass. Upon enter- ing, we saw a floral truck with the name of Timm's Tulips. Bill Timm al- ways did want to be a florist and I hear he has been doing very well at it. He was bringing orchids to some of the Karrol Beauties. He told us one of nur old school chums was the leading lady in Mr. Karrol's show. When she came off the stage we recognized her immediately as Betty Borst. Follow- ing her closely was Carl Weigle. He had made a fortune selling dead flash- light batteries to Ravine Park patrons. He now spends his time trying to win the affections of this lovely young lady. We also noticed Madam Barnhart giving last minute touches to the nat- ural curls of Erma Jones. I expect you all know by now that Erma has suc- ceeded Cass Daley. Her side-kick is Ray Bolinger fDallas Harrisj. They cer- tainly made an attractive couple. As we walked by a movie set we thought we heard the voice of Charles Boyer. When we looked it was Bill Stonebraker rehearsing one of his torrid love scenes with that one and only Blonde fPeroxideJ Bombshell, Janice Parton. While driving back to our hotel we tuned in on the Homicidal Harmony of Charlie Wallace and his band. Charlie has really made a name for himself. His band is featured on the Luckee Strike Hit Parade. He has an all-out cast. The featured attraction of his show is that brand new com- edy team that is sweeping the nation, Mona Lamb and Dale Livengood. When it came time for the commercial who should we hear but the succes- sor of L. S. CSpeedJ Riggs, Ed CSpeedD Larson. Ed always did want to be an auctioneer and I guess he reached his goal. There was then a sudden news flash! It said: Captain Bob Truhart, who had his own ship in the Second World War was happily married this evening at Chapel Hill. The lucky bride was that shy wall flower of our Senior Class, Orba Miller. It was reported that the happy young couple would make their home at the present with the bride's cousin, Valla Lea Blankenship. Val runs a chicken farm back home in Indiana. She's planning to start raising pigs just as soon as Bob and Orba move in with her. When we got back to town we bought a copy of the New York Times which is now edited by Lelia Crane. The most popular column in this pa- per is Advice to the Lovelorn which is written by Wreatha Troxel. The subject of her column today was an answer to a letter recived by her from Betty Slauter. Betty's question was this, Now that I have been married to .Tohn Wayne for three years he has suddenly taken an interest in Holly- wood's leading soda-jerk, namely, Mary Hartman. What shall I do? Shall l leave him ? Wreatha's answer was: Leave him and then go see a psychol- ogist to analyze your reason for doing such a silly thing. In the meantime, let me know his phone number. The front page of the Times was taken up by the story of how the not- ed test pilot, Avis Hansley, had crashed. He was saved by first aid rendered by his special air stewardess, Margaret Stonebraker. It is rumored that this young couple might fly down the aisle together in the very near future. This seems to account for every member of the class of '45. If anyone is left out, we are truly sorry. Send your complaint to Gripe Department, At- tica High School. Carl Weigle Erma Jones 31
