Though each year there are many deserving of the acknowledgment, the field has to be narrowed to one who is more than just deserving. We, seniors, have chosen as our recipient a man, though not a member of the faculty, who is well known by each student. He is a man influential in his community as well as the surrounding area. Born in Kendalville, Indiana he was raised in Omar, taught school for 12 years, served in such positions as Superintendent of the Reed schools, Mayor of Attica, member of Attica Methodist Church, a 32nd degree Mason, and presently chairman of the Seneca County Republican Committee. So to show our appreciation for his willingness to lend a helping hand, his generosity, his loyalty, and his friendship, we, the class of 1959, proudly dedicate this edition of The Aquila to Mr. Bert Martin. 2 l l Annual Staff ll, EDITOR Judith Weber CLUB EDITOR Donna Gibson SPORTS EDITOR James Dellinger BUSINESS MANAGER Sandra Fike ACTIVITY EDITOR Phyllis Ritz MUSIC EDITOR Jeffery Ramsey ELEMENTARY EDITOR HIGH SCHOOL EDITOR Madonna Stockmaster Audrey Channing ADVISOR--Robert Schneider SERVICE ASS'T EDITOR David Hawblitz SENIOR EDITORS Barbara Logan Patricia Maxwell ADVERTISEMENT Judith Wright Therefore when we build, let us think that we build forever. Let it not be for the present delight, nor for the present use alone. Let is be such work as our descendants will thank us for, and let us think as we lay stone on stone, that the time is to come when these stones will be held sacred because our hands have touched them and that men will say as they look upon the labor and wrought substance of them, See what our fathers did for us John Ruskin C1819- 19001 3 Boa rd of Education 01 Henry Cook, Charles Aukland, Supt.
