FFA Develops leadership Abilities The main emphasis of FFA was to develop the members' leadership abilities. Activities such as State Convention in May, the National Convention in November, the Soil Judging and the Speaking Contests involved many members throughout the year. Atlantic teams placed 2nd and 3rd in the Dis- trict Soil judging Contest. The membership grew steadily, as eighteen new greenhands were installed, including two girls. The Future Farmers favorite activities were Harvest Ball and the citrus fruit sale. Harvest Ball was once again a great success. This year's fruit sales hit a peak as a money making project. The year's highlight was FFA week in Febru- ary. During the Week the members planned an ap- preciation breakfast to honor people who had con- tributed to the Atlantic chapter. This year's activities drew to a close in April when the annual banquet was held. Special guests included parents and prospective greenhands. The program was provided by the Parlimentary Proced- ure Team and individual speakers. Awards were presented to the outstanding members. GRA, Recreational Fun Wearing clothes inside out and backwards initiated the freshman girls into the high school club, GRA. The major event during the year was a slumber party. A trip to the Girl's State Basketball Tournament was plann-ed and money was collected for the tickets, but tickets were not available. All the money was then refunded to the girls. During meetings, the girls competed in games like volley- ball, basketball, and scooter speedball. The club also ordered GRA t-shirts.
