Student Body Speaks The 1972-73 student council was un- er the direction of a new advisor, Mr. Dennis Holbrook. In an effort to im- prove the student council commitees, the council decided to group the com- mittees into three main headings. These groupings were the Social Committee, the Cultural Committee, and the Re- lations Committee. Four people from Atlantic were elected officers for the Southwest District Cabinet. They were Iane Witrner, presidentg Kathy Parker, secretaryg Barb Hutchinson, state cab- inet memberg and Dennis Holbrook, advisor. The council members researched various improvements for the benefit of the student body. Matters that were explored included open study halls, a student lounge, and vending machines for the cafeteria. Much research was also done to find a recycling center or possibly start one in Atlantic. On the entertainment side, the council was re- sponsible for getting bands for the school's many dances. Having reached the desired goal, homeroom 308 was entitled the honor of having next year's AFS student in their homeroom. They received this honor because theiy con- tributed the most money on Penny Day. Also, two-hundred dollars were raised by the council as a scholarship for a deserving senior. The student council once again left its mark at AHS. l 4 l 2 I 3 1.
