i president, Nancy Heffbert, the club's sponsor, Mrs. Bennett. During the 1969-70 school year, the gavel of the Future Nurses Club was held by Nancy Herbert, a junior, and was advised by Mrs. Bennett, the school nurse. The club participated in nu- merous activities including visiting the new Atlantic Medical Center and tour- ing the Home for Trainables. As the year progressed, the members inspect- ed the Iowa School for the Deaf and were shown the various aspects of a hospital. By viewing several movies, FNC was informed of the different careers that are synchronized in the running of a hospital such as nursing and being lab technicians. The girls received instruction in a first aid course and made favors at Easter time. They held a tea for their mothers in the spring which featured the installation of officers for the ensuing year. 22 28 29 Those who comprise the FNC cabinet are Diane Cook, Karen Conklin, and Judy Rechtenbach. Making Easter favors keeps Karen Petersen. Kathy Fickel. Linda 1Beuchamp,.a,,d Martha Hansen very busy, and will in lturn make many people happy.

Through the 1969-70 school year, the Future Teachers of America Club was headed by Marlys Lilienthal. In Octo- ber the club attended the district con- vention, and in November the juniors and seniors of the club participated in the Prospective Teachers Day at Drake University. They held a Christmas party in December, and in March the mem- bers went to the state convention. In the spring the juniors and seniors taught once a week for eight weeks in order to find out if teaching was what they truly wanted to do. During Education Week they assisted the high school teachers, and in April the club invited their mothers and elementary teachers they taught under to their installation of new officers. year are: Clubs Help Members Set Their Goals Marlys Lilienthal, FTA president, is caught off guard. 5? 2 Wt!

The members of the club participated in various activi- ties. These included: selling apples at home football games, making toys for needy children, and studying different careers. They also held a party for their fathers and invited their mothers to their installation tea. Carol Bladt prepares for the annual style show. Responsible for planning and organizing the c1ub's many activities is the FHA cabinet. They are: Carol Burgm, Darla Hall, Loretta Kramer, and Diane Iameson. lvlembers Prepare For Leaming the art of arranging conversation pieces is Sheryl Knuth.
