DEDICATION “I want to teach! Per- haps no one wants this more and yet does it better than Dr. C. H. Hamlin. He is a man who has contributed 50 years to education ... a man who is a recognized humani- tarian ... a man who has forgotten more history than most can ever remember . . . a man who is a man. To many students Dr. Hamlin has been a salva- tion. He has jokingly replied that good grades indicate a good teacher. Former stu- dents have reflected that they can recall more quotes from his classes than any they have experienced. One such proverbial remark heard this year was: The Constitution is a changing organism, not a static ma- chine. We make this dedication simply because Dr. Hamlin deserves it. Any further tri- bute The Pine Knot could offer here would be inade- quate.

A COLLEGE PRESIDENT When President Arthur D. Wenger talks to someone he employs a push-button smile, a smile which often means more than what he says. It is a smile which promotes friend- ships and a smile which destroys unsound arguments. College presidents have a most precarious position. Dr. Wenger has said that he must maintain the tension between student demands and administrative restraints. Often both sides appear unreasonable, and a biased approach by a college president would destroy all hope for a liberal arts education. Dr. Wenger's middle course , though often at- tacked, has yielded a promising future for Atlantic Christian College.
