[40] c And then as we journey forward there is need of a song that will buoy us up through the calm or through the storm. Though our ship be rocked from above or be- neath us, we will ever give out with this song: Hail A. C. College — Fondly we hail Thee Thy loyal children Forever are we True to thy blue and white Never to fail thee Hail, Alma Mater, All Hail to thee. Hail, thou our mother Dearly we cherish Thy Name enthroned Victorious and free Thy tender memories Never shall perish Hail, Alma Mater All Hail to Thee! WILMA WILLIAMS has been of great service in governmental work and as president of the Golden Knot Honor Society. JEWITT DAVIS has been outstanding for her work as secretary of the Executive Board. GORDAN ALDRIDGE has been out- standing in governmental work, par- ticularly for his service this year as president of the Cooperative Asso- ciation. JOE HOLLIDAY is remembered for his efficient leadership as Senior Class president and supervisor of the Dining Hall. He is also active in sports. JAMES WEBSTER is noted for out- standing leadership, having served as president of the Men's Dormitory Council. He is also a member of the Golden Knot Honor Society. All of us like to look back and see what we and our friends have done throughout the year. This pleasure is afforded us through the Pine Knot. In this book the various activities participated in by the students during the school year 1941-1942 have been recorded. Ruth Beard, editor-in-chief, with the capable assistance of Irene Langs- ton, associate editor, has devoted much time and energy toward making the yearbook a success. Through their efforts the actual compilation of the work has been completed. Charles Eagles, business manager, in cooperation with the business men of Wilson, has been most instrumental in providing the ways and means' 1 of our Pine Knot. Mr. Cecil A. Jarman acted as faculty advisor. [44] Several students deserve recognition for the time and effort that they have contributed to the publication of the annual. Katherine Wainwright did the art work. Jack Martin, Joe Holliday and Edvan Thompson were in charge of the snapshots. Others, invaluable in the compi lat ion of the book were Betty Miller, Earle Williams, Sally and Claudia Lucas, Mary Louise Rose, and Ruby Jones. One faculty member, Dr. John Workman, proved very helpful to the staff because of the many fine snapshots he contributed. [45] The Collegiate is a monthly record of the events that are of interest to the students and faculty members. For a number of years it has been a leading publication on the campus, and it strives to develop journalistic qualities in its writers. Kirby Watson, editor, with the cooperation of Naomi Morris, assistant editor, and the other members of the staff, have given us a fine year of Collegiates. George Woodall has been in charge of the business end of the paper. He, along wi th his assistant, Joe Quinerly, has given of his time in selling the ads which make our paper possible. Dr. Mildred E. Hartsock has been faculty advisor of the Collegiate. [46] Many other students have worked to make the Collegiate the fine little paper that it is. Russell Arnold has acted as sports editor this year. Other members of the staff who have contributed to our school paper are: Mary Louise Rose, Albert Tyson, Claudia Lucas, Sally Lucas, Eleanor Smith, Frances Hemby, Vincent Columbo, Carolyn Parrish, Edith Cartwright, and Mary Elizabeth Jones. m [47] SIGMA ALPHA In 1925 the Sigma Alpha has grown to become one of the leading campus organizations.
