HISTORY OF HABVESTERS
0F 1943
As we now stand at the pinnacle of our endeavor 0f the last four years and look up
unto gltho fields white already unto harvesfa we realize that our work is just be-
ginning.
It is with some cxultation that we comprehend our accomplishment. It is with
great happinvss that we are able to review the safe way through the journey of life,
not only for ourselves but also for others. Being accomplished Seniors is not what
we had l'undly imagined as ltiroshmen. An altogether different feeling pervades our
living. mu- not of incalculable pleasure and satisfaction, but rather ono indicative
of thv seriousness ml. the responsibility required of men and women whose aim in
life is the winning: of souls to Christ.
Our t-lass. which was l'urmally urganizcd at the beginning of our Sophomore year,
t-lmsv linr its colors, i'ml aml white; its flower, the red rose bud; its mottu, gTorward
for Christ. 011v nl thv most joyous experiences as Sophomores was the purchasing
ml the lil'st st'html sweaters.
Our Junior war was a pvriml of metamorphosis, one of transition from unsettled
llilltllH ol' tumult yvai's, tn the greater vision, broader viewpoint, and larger expecta-
tions so universally attrilvulml to Seniors. The outstanding feature which we enjoyed
as Juniurs was the banquet which we gave in honor of the hrst graduates, the class
of 11:2.
This, the longvd-lor war of nut life, has come. As we leave the college halls,
let us all rommnlwr that the greatest achievements come to him who realizes most
fully that his vllit'imu'y l'ur acquiring: success is in doing the thing nearest at hand
in tho wry lu-st way hv knows. Thus will be benefited not himself alone, but his
l'ollowman. home, state, and muntry. Therefore, let us march forward for Christ as
harvesters into tho fields of the world, thrust in our sickles, and gather the souls of
men unto lilo eternal.
PEGGY SWAFFORD.
