Dreams can ccome true is something we have all learned here at A.H.S. Hold on to your dreams for somehow they will come true. Dreams are expectations for what is to come. They are secrets that only you alone can conquer and believe in. Dreams are also goals. And you alone know of it’s existence. Dreams are what we all should have and believe in, for when there is nothing left, for anyone, yourself, there is still a dream waiting to be conquered and waiting for you, alone to conquer it. 4

New Buses, New Computers The enrollment for the Atkinson schools for 1984-84 year was as follows; in the grade school: 97 girls and 108 boys and in the high school; 42 girls and 46 boys for a grand total of 293 students, 84 in the high school. This year the school built a new bus barn behind the school. The buses had been privately owned by Bert Swanson, however, after his death his family decided not to continue the business. This school decided to purchase the buses and build new facilities for them behind the school. Also, this year the second floor of the old section of the high school, the old gym and the old girls locker room were closed off and some of the rooms were shuffled around. The old history room is how the business room. The old Home Ec. room is the history room, and the Home Ec. kitchen is now the room where they have Home Ec. classes. The girls locker room is now where the grade school boys formally had they’re locker room. The school bought seven new computers to expand our computer department. There were three new teachers on our staff this year. Replacing Bruce Jefferson in the Science Department is Joe Iorio. Anita Behrens took the place of Marcia Trager in the English department, but had to leave because she adopted a baby. So, Cathy Owano took her place. A final addition to the school was a new track around the football field. Top Right: Atkinson School Board: Left to Right: Dave VanDeVelde; Stan Heller, Pres.; Tom Van-Vooren; Alan VanDeWoestyne; Ron Reiling; Greg Patton; Paul Nelson. Middle Left: Mr. Iorio goes Hawaiian, eat your heart out Magnum! Middle Right: Mr. Bandy catches up on some reading in study hall. Lower Left: Miss Walls helps Susan Buysse get through general math. Lower Right: Pros Roman puts some finishing touches on the rebuilt High School track. That and the new bus barn in the background were some of the improvements on the Atkinson campus. 6
