In Dedication This year we would like to dedicate our yearbook to a man who has given 24 years of his life to teaching, 18 of those years at Atkinson. Mr. Ralph Moens has been a teacher, an adviser, and most importantly, a friend to everyone. After graduating from Atkinson High School in 1946, Ralph J. Moens spent two years in the United States Army. In the fall of 1948, Mr. Moens entered the University of Illinois' College of Agriculture. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture, he started teaching ag. at Erie High School in )une, 1951. Ten years later Mr. Moens returned to U. of I. and received a Masters degree in agriculture. In 1962, he began teaching at Atkinson High School. After being here eight years, he started our Co-op program and has been vocational education supervision and administration in 1972. Ralph Moens was born and raised in Atkinson. He married Mary Lou Causemaker, also a graduate of AHS. They were blessed with three children, two boys and one girl. Mr. Moens has many enjoyments, including farming, photography, and working with people. He has received many awards over the years. Mr. Moens will be leaving teaching to join the Atkinson Bank staff. His wish is to serve the community in a little different capacity. We, the yearbook staff and students of AHS, would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Moens for all he has given us and to wish him the best of luck in his latest endeavor. 2 You mean a lot to us, R. J. We will certainly miss you at AHS.
