Individuals 1972 Tiger Volume 31 Atkinson High School Atkinson, Illinois The key to wisdom lies in silent observation. Pushing back the boundaries of the mind are important in realizing the role of the students. We, as students, are less interested in being considered part of the mass. No longer do we want to be a repetition of a regular pattern. 2 Great bundles of little things like being patient, putting oneself in another's place, looking for truth, forgiving a misdeed, are such that separate the great from those not so great. Too often we strive in vain to look beyond the heights. 4 Good times should be made to last. Fun times, unique times become lost times. . . almost before they've begun. We look ahead yet never forgetting where we have been, moving forward to that certain something. . . something concerned with our own identities, with being ourselves, with being different. 6 7 Seeking out truth and why things stand as is makes each person one of a kind . . .an individual quite separate from any other being. There's little need to focus attention on the group because we are all occupied with questions of where am I going, and what do I hope to accomplish. 8 All of our actions have a double quality about them. It is only by careful watching and absolute sincerity that we follow the path that is destined for us. No matter how tragic that may be, it is far better than the tragedy we bring upon ourselves. Now we find ourselves no longer the children we once were, but not yet the adults we shall be. We are struggling to meet the demands and expectations of others, learning from the mistakes we have made. We realize that lollipops and bicycle scraped elbows have slowly faded and merely become a part of the mirage we call memories. We look ahead yet never forgetting where we have been. Somewhere along the way we have lost yesterday and are not quite sure of where to find tomorrow. . .We, as individuals, find it in ourselves. 108 3E3 m
