DEDICATION We, the Class of 1953, dedicate this yearbook to Mr. Donald Dike, Principal, whose guidance and help have been sincerely appreciated by us all during our high school career. Mr. Dike, who has been at Athol High School for nearly thirty-four years and principal since 1938, resigned his post as of July 1953. He came to Athol in March 1919, after serving as a Second Lieutenant in World War I, and taught mathematics and science, besides coaching baseball. He was the past president of the Massachusetts Teachers Federation and also served as vice-president and director for eleven years. Mr. Dike has seen the development of the Student Council, students leading the assemblies, the One-Act Plays, the guidance program and a placement bureau, funds for assemblies' and the organization of a graduation committee, the cafe- teria and classes in gym. We think it fitting that we dedicate our yearbook to this man who dedicated his life's work to us.
