:mln Ti ,fp A QW: 'sua .K W SENIOR I-IISTOR Y In September 1943 sxx bashful freshmen trooped into the Athol I-hgh School They looked very t1m1d to the upper classmen but after they were all seated and had marched to classes a couple of txmes they dldn t seem so out of place These s1x freshmen were Mxldred Badger l..uc11le Rexnecke james Tasche ames Damels erry Galvxn and Dwxght Wexdeman ln the Sophomore year lvildred Badger entered the Aberdeen Hlgh School and Francxs McNeely jomed the class whxch kept the number of pupxls at sxx The others were ames Tasche ames Damels jerry Galvm Lucille Remecke and Dwxght Wexdeman The jumor year or the year of 194-5 was spent mn Ashton due to the fact that the Athol l-hgh School was closed Jerry Galvm james Tasche and Dw1ght Wexdeman went to the Ashton I-hgh School james Daniels Jomed the navy and Francxs McNee1y dropped out of the class The year of 1946 7 or the Semor year was spent ln the Athol Hlgh School whxch was reopened Lee Russel Snyder and Max H111 who had been m the Navy the last two years returned to school m the Semor year The other semors are Dwlght Wexdeman and jerry Galvm All the boys played basketball and each recexved letters for the years whxch they had played G L E E . SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY Here we are In the world of tomorrow Ijust landed at The ATHOL AIRPORT It s the best and the largest m the South Dakota area Athol 15 a large c1ty now havlng a populatlon of a bout 10 000 or so I had to go to the depot to send a telegram home to my family to let them know of my safe arrlval Istepped up to the txcket wmdow and hollered for the agent and who do you suppose came? Buster H111 andle d been sleepmg out mtihe back room He saxd that he d1dn't have to be afrald of belng dxscharged because he owned the raxlroad now After sendxng my telegram he told me that he would show me around town lf I so desired I told hmm that I would like to take a rrde out ln the country first He wheeled hls hehcopter out and up we went About flve mzles from town I notlced that all I could see below was cattle and asked Buster to whom the belonged He sald jerry Galvln owned them and that he was the b1ggest cattleman ID the Northwest Buster po1nted out jerry s mansxon so I sald let s go down and down we went We found jerry swlmmxng mn has outdoor swxmmmg pool just beslde his manslon He sazd h1s wxfe and four chlldren that we had to be gomg back to town and he sa1d he had some bus zness there so we all went together We spent the afternoon slghtseemg That night we went tto the Athohte N1ghtclub We went in and sat down to watch the floor show I notlced a number of women around a table in the corner and went over just to see what they were makmg all the fuss about Who do you suppose was ln the mldst of them all? Dwlght Wexdeman and he was very surpr1sed to see us and asked us to s1t down He owns a cham of garages all over the North West He sald he had 'plenty money so he was just loaftng and spendmg lt on the women Good old Dwmght he hasn t changed a b1t Well It was gettmg late and Ihad a plane to catch at two o clock m order to make It back to New York by mormng I own the Empxre State buxldxng and my wlfe five children and myself live on the top floor Very lncon venxent but you know how xt IS ln a large clty I was accompamed down to the plane by Buster Dw1ght and erry I hated to leave but you know how rt 15 What a throng of memories thls trxp brought back to me seelng so many famllmar faces after a lapse of twenty years Red Snyder .
