Since coming to Athens College from Sebring, Florida, Dr. James has made many friends in the Tennessee Val- ley and has done much to improve the appearance of the physical plant. THE Y CABINET The Y Cabinet is composed of twelve members selected from upperclass- men. The purpose of this organization is to sponsor the vesper service held each evening, the annual stunt night, fellowship week, and ' the annual Christ- mas party. The Y Cabinet is now under the sponsorship of Dr. K. L. Rudolph. THE CLASSICAL CLUB The Classical Club is an honorary girls ' club established the eighteenth day of December, nineteen hundred forty-one. Membership is limited to twenty. The Club is now under the sponsorship of Mrs. Marvin Smith. KAPPA MU EPSILON The K. M. E. organization is an honorary mathematics fraternity. To become a member of this organization one must have an average of B in mathematics and a C-j- average in all other subjects. K. M. E. is now being sponsored by Professor R. L. Garrett. This average must be maintained if one is to remain a member of the organization for the limited time — two years. Professor L. DeL. Wallace is now the sponsor. PHI SIGMA Phi Sigma is a literary society on the campus for the purpose of creating interest in and appreciation for the finer in literature. This organization sponsors the annual Valentine Party and the tea given at the beginning of the fall quarter in honor of the new students. Phi Sigma is under the sponsorship of Miss Emily Chandler. WESLEY FOUNDATION The Wesley Foundation is the Methodist religious organization at Athens College under the sponsorship of Dr. K. L. Rudolph. BAPTIST STUDENT UNION (Officers only pictured) The Baptist Student Union is a connecting link between the Baptist students of the college and the local church. The Baptist students are kept in touch with the objectives and activities of the Baptist Church through membership in the B. S. U. Professor Robert B. Boehm is the present sponsor of I. R. C. ATHLETIC CLUB The A Club was organized in the fall of 1947. This organization was more firmly established when Coach E. M. ( Bull ) Smith became the Club ' s faculty adviser. The A Club is composed of students who have partici- pated in intercollegiate sports and who have met necessary qualifications for membership. MINISTERIAL ASSOCIATION The Ministerial Association was organized in 1949. Its purpose is to lead the religious life on the campus, to promote understanding of each other ' s problems, and to give encouragement in time of need. Dr. K. L. Rudolph is faculty adviser. THE CROW ' S NEST The Crow ' s Nest is a monthly paper published by the students of Athens College, and is a member of the Associated Collegiate Press. BEARS ON THE HARDWOOD Dickie Coffman, slender forward, poured through a record-setting 370 points this season to pace Athens College offense. He averaged 13.1 points per game in 28 contests and set a single game record of 34 points against Martin College. Bob Sibley rounded out his fourth year of varsity basketball with a record career of 647 points in 76 games for a four-year 8.51 points per game average. Six members of the 1949-1950 aggregation tallied over 100 points, with three of this number counting 200 or more. Coffman paced the scoring parade with Mcllwain next in line, his total being 224 markers. Following him was Flanagan with 223, Sibley with 180, Densmore with 149, and Jones with 129. The Golden Bear cagers, which were a hot-and-cold quintet, won 11 games and dropped 17, five of which were by four points or less. Athens took on its most ambitious schedule this year, meeting such teams as David Lipscomb, Jack- sonville State, Livingston, Northeast Mississipjii, and Paducah. Second Row Harold C.
