But it was not until 1909 that the lirst High School was organized. The enrollment for this hrst session was ninety-Eve. All nfteen graduates of 1910 entered college the next fall. During the hrst year of Athens High School a Home Fconomics department was introduced for the nrst time in a high school in the state of Georgia. lvithin Hve years after its beginning, Athens High became a full accredited, four year high school. Enrollment for the 1959-60 session has reached 1286 with this year's graduating class numbering approximately 210 students.
