He attended Young Harris College before coming to the University of Georgia, where he received an A.B. degree in Education in 1932. He recived his M.A. degree in History and Administration in 1937. To all students, who have upheld the standards of the Athens High School in scholastic work, athletics and all other activities, I extend congratulations also. Those of you who are not completing your high school careers this year will have further oppor- tunities to contribute to the progress of the Athens High School and I am confident that, in your work with teachers and in all activities, you will continue the fine traditions of the school. During 1956-57, the first year of operation as a school serving the entire county, the work of the student body and the school staff has been such that the Athens High School has been a credit to this community. After teaching for 21 number of years in Atlanta, Mr. Wood came to Athens. Here, he served as Principal of the Athens High School and as Supervising Principal of the Athens School System before becoming Superinten- dent. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia, holding both the A.B. and the M.A. Degree and he has done further graduate study at Emory and Co- lumbia Universities. MR.
