GEORGIA OFFICE OF TNI IUFERINTENDENT February 8 , 1957 To the Students of the Athens High School To Seniors who will be graduating in June, I extend congratulations and best wishes for success as you continue your education in colleges or go directly into business, industry, agriculture, homemeking or other life work. To all students, who have upheld the standards of the Athens High School in scholastic work, athletics and all other activities, I extend congratulations also. Those of you who are not completing your high school careers this year will have further oppor- tunities to contribute to the progress of the Athens High School and I am confident that, in your work with teachers and in all activities, you will continue the fine traditions of the school. During 1956-57, the first year of operation as a school serving the entire county, the work of the student body and the school staff has been such that the Athens High School has been a credit to this community. Citizens of Athens and Clarke County are proud.of you. Sincerely, JWWWWL Sam W. wood Superintendent SWW-hs Mr. Wood has served as Superintendent of Clarke County Schools since April 1956. After teaching for 21 number of years in Atlanta, Mr. Wood came to Athens. Here, he served as Principal of the Athens High School and as Supervising Principal of the Athens School System before becoming Superinten- dent. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia, holding both the A.B. and the M.A. Degree and he has done further graduate study at Emory and Co- lumbia Universities. MR.
