A Tribute To Mr. D. B. Pitts By Dr, S. R. LeMay When an attempt is made to tell others of the life attributes of a great and good man who has passed on one finds that words are inade- quate tools for expressing ones actual feelings under such circum- stances Yet those of us who vsere intimately associated with Mr Pitts are anxious for others to know him better and for them to haxe a more understanding appreci ation of the great loss our school and community has suffered in hxs passing During the ten wears Mr Pitts was connected with the Athens Hlgh School he was never absent a single time from his class duties on account of illness His unusual faithfulness to duty as shown by his unfaxling presence in the class room and the school corridors has made it extremely difficult for us to become accustomed t o his be ing absent from our mldst Faithfulness to duty dependabll ity a friendlv and sympathetic smile for everyone were the quah Mr Pitts to everyone who knew him Mr Pitts was not one who sought the plaudit of his fellow man He did his Job well because he had acquired through the years an attitude of good workmanship In the loss of Mr Pitts the Ath ens High School has lost an effi cient and helpful teacher the fac ulty and student body a loyal faithful friend this community and county has lost a helpful and use ful cztwen Our sympathies go out to his family and loved ones in this sad hour of their bereasement V - .- . , 1: ' t. , ' I . ties of character which endeared , - 3 . .
