CULLMAN VS. ATHENS After trailing for three quarters the Cullman Bearcats came from behind to win 19 -7. Donnie Black made the Athens touchdown on an 86-yard dash in the first quarter. The hard-hitting of linesmen Michael Whitt, Jimmy Collins, Pete Mullowney, and Wayne Thorn stopped the drives of the Bearcats time and time again until the third quarter. Weary and battered to the bone, the Eagles yielded unwillingly to two Bearcat touchdowns within the last three minutes of play. Donnie Black tries hard to pull away from a Cullman man's grip. Stevie Williams nails a Cullman Bearcat as Pete Mullowney and Jeep HUNTSVILLE vs. ATHENS The Eagles pulled in their first victory of the season over the Hunts- ville Panthers. After trailing 7-0 at the half, the Eagles came back and monopolized the third quarter, allowing the Panthers only four plays. A pass by Huntsville on their own 21 netted Athens -a touchdown when Billy Joe Scott intercepted it and dashed into the end zone. Bobby Coggin booted the tying point. Later in the same quarter, Stevie Williams passed to Scott for another touchdown and the Eagles won 14-7.

Looking for an opening, Jackie Greenhaw plows into the line. COFFEE Vs. ATHENS The Coffee Yellow Jackets downed the Golden Eagles by a score of 32- 6. The Eagles gave the Yellow Jack- ets a near heart attack when they recovered a fumble on the Coffee nineteen in the opening moments of the game. In three plays Stevie Williams went over the goal line on a quarterback sneak. Bobby Coggin missed the try for the extra point. Coffee quickly came back and tied the score and went ahead before the half to stay, but the Eagles made them earn every point. BUTLER VS. ATHENS Missing an extra point proved to be costly when the Golden Eagles went down in defeat by a score of 7-6 to the Butler Rebels. A 41- yard run by Jeep Bruce to the Butler six-yard line set up the possibility of a touchdown but the Rebels held the Eagles for four downs. Athens's score came late in the second quarter from a 25-yard pass from Stevie Williams to Billy Joe Scott. The Rebels came back and scored and booted the extra point, which was the margin of victory. The Eagles tried hard but could never score again. Jackie Greenhaw and Jeep Bruce form the battering ram for Donnie Black.

IASPER vs. ATHENS The Walker County Vikings shut out the Athens Golden Eagles in a l9-O game. Athens's offense could not get rolling against the Viking line. An extra point blocked by Wayne Thorn and fumbles recovered by Jimmy Greenhaw and Stevie Williams on the Athens's 11 and 28- yard lines stopped many of the Vi- king's drives. Billy Joe Scott tries to out run a Jasper Viking as Michael Whitt comes up to help. Bobby Coggin and Jeep Bruce rush in to make sure of a tackle against Deshler. I
