My membership on the school board is movitaved by my desire to provide quality education for the students in our district. Ken Gustafson As President of the School Board what do you feel are the weak points In our district that we should concentrate on Im- proving? I feel that our area of greatest concern is to keep abreast of modern technology in education, such as computer training. This has to be done at a time that the district is looking at a loss of revenue and must have Fiscal restraint. 54 David Kolaz What do you feel Is the most pressing problem facing our school district today? The most pressing problem facing our school district today is a lack of adequate funding to maintain the desired educational pro- gram. However, I believe that funding is only the most obvious symptom of a more deeply root- ed problem that is based on the community's reluctance to make a more substantial sacrifice for education. Some of the reasons for this are undeniable — the re- cession has had a major affect on everyone. Regardless of the fi- nancial climate, people in the community do not seem to re- gard the need for an education as an overriding concern affect- ing the public interest for years to come and, furthermore, they do not seem to place much confi- dence in the effectiveness of the system in providing a solid educa- tion. These are the problems that face our school district today and that will continue to show itself in years to come until the public it- self becomes firmly committed to the educational process. 55 George Muller FACULTY ■ Ben Gaston Job Description: Librarian Family: Wife — Monique Children: Suzanne, Claudette, Marie, Monica, Michelle, Dan- iel, John, Joseph.
