CLASS PROPHECY Dr. Martha Downey, the famous chemist, has for some time been perfecting a new drug called madhev, which she hopes to have on the market by December, 1975. Before the drug can be placed on the market, however, it must be tested by human beings. Dr. Downey has chosen her high school graduating class for this test. Locat- ing the members of the class was a difficult task, but they have all been contacted and have arrived for the testing. The following is the result of an interview of the group: The first person interviewed, Miss Linda Baum, is a night club entertainer. She seemed more interested in the activities of her former classmates than in the test. Next to be interviewed were Mr. Robert Coomer, who is the president of a temperance society; Steven Talkington, owner of Stevie's Latin Village; Mr. Dave Brown, a mechanic; Mr. William Fitschen, a hair stylist; and Karen Weidhuner, formerly Karen Nichols, who is married to the owner of an African diamond mine. Five members of the group are active in the field of education. They are: Miss Judith Muller, a Greek teacher; Miss Linda Bell, a gym teacher; Miss Olive Boone, a math teacher; Jack Miller, a coach; and Larry Pierceall, president of the board of education in New York City. Some of the more famous members of the class were Andrew Wasilewski, Col- umbia Record Company's newest recording star; actor-producer David Wartenbe; Sandra Hughes, the country's highest paid model; astronaut Janet Garmers; and James Hendrickson, owner of a chain of grocery stores. The next group interviewed is an example of the varied personalities within the class. They were: Dan Freeman, a beachcomber; Harold Greene, a farmer; Terry Geary, an instructor at an Arthur Murray dance studio; Gloria Williams, a dress designer; Ron Ferricks, a trapeze artist; Lon Milner, a florist; and James Davis, who manages the women's department at Sach's in New York. Miss Sharon Pierceall, social advisor at the White House, explained the ab- sence of three members of the class. One of the absentees happened to be the president of the United States, Mr. Fred Weidhuner. Another was Karen Markey, a nun, who could not participate because of restrictions placed upon her by her religious order. The other absent member, Miss Harriet Vandagrift, was unable to leave her job as dietitian at Alcatraz. Last to be interviewed were Mrs. Beverly Schwartz, formerly Beverly Brown, the mother of eight children, and Marilynn and Don Ferricks, representing the only marriage within the class. 14
