We walked around in a daze for a few moons getting used to teachers, schedules, and regulations. As our treasury was low (zero dollars and zero cents, to be exact) we started a campaign to make money. We sold Christmas holly, balIpoint pens, and held a magazine drive. With our large membership, the class enthusiasm, and the help of Mr. Freemen, our advisor, we were able to obtain money for our treasury, hold a class party, and start on our way to becoming full-fledged warriors. We returned in the fall of '49, not as silly sophomores, but as serious sophomores. We got into everything including biology, basketball, and '’Detention. We sold basketball schedules, pennants. Warrior licence plates, and had a magazine drive. In the spring we enjoyed a weiner roast, which brought to a climax a wonderful sophomore year. For two years we had wai ted for this moment: we were now upperclassmen. We took part in many activities. Wesold popcorn and ice cream at home basketball games; two juniors edited the Athenian Sun; and a party was held in the gym. In the spring we gave twoone-act plays, Cornin'Round the Mountain and Spring Formal and put our funds to good use by giving the Junior-Senior Banquet at the Washington Park Pavilion. Now came our last but most remembered year at ACHS. We sold cokes and hotdogs at games. Activities went by in a whirl, the spaghetti supper, the senior plays, senior skip day, the junior-senior banquet, and at last graduation. Of course a good deal of our time was spent in editing the annual. We became full-fledged Warriors and there was no doubt in our minds that we had had a wonderful four years ACHS. 17 We, the senior class of 1952, do bequeath and bequit, leave, give away, and get rid of the following possessions. Johnny and Louise were talking about it and went along. Their jet plane wasrather crowded with the children of both families. They had seen a lot of each other these past ten years because they were pretty close neighbors. Joan lives in Elkhart, and Louise lives just a few miles away. It seems the class '52 had migrated westward after graduation. After ten years, they decided it was time to see each other again I As Arizona is just sixty seconds from Elkhart, they arrived in sixty seconds. The building that looked most like a hotel was named Muskhogen. Chief Bryant answered the knock. He and his squaw Pat Watts were running a home for retired Warriors combined with the hotel. Of course Pat wasn't in. She was living up to her title, Flying Farmerette. After unpacking their bags, they found a restaurant, The Montezuma. A red-headed Warrior was smoking a pipe in a corner and adding long columns on a piece of birchbark. He looked up and greeted them. It was Charles Boone. Naturally, they had to have quite a powwow about old times. His children were helping wait on tables. The tiling that caught their attention for evening entertainment was a sign Indianer Racetrack -Proprietors, Beverly and Don Smith. They went to the warmup grounds amid all the clatter and noise. A mechanic popped his head up from underneath a Hot Rod and waved a greeting. It was John Eden under all the grease. Bev and Smitty gave them seats in their special grandstand. It was an exciting race. The winner was red-headed Donna Ingram! She was given a string of wampum by her boyfriend. They hated to leave, but all the noise and mud made them feel like eating. They climbed in a taxi driven by Dottie Ingold. She and Bubbins are running the InNarko Taxi Service. Her mother baby sits for her. They caught up on a lot of the latest. She advised them to go to the Abnake Night Club. It is run by Larry Wasilewski. He usually has a pretty good floorshow. He is living up to his ambition of being a bigamist. His wives, Joyce Cantrall and Mary Ann Freeman, are helping make the night club a success. The main attractions of the evening were the Skitte-hagan Dance by Hopi Powell and Yaqui Yoakum. Accompanying them were Punkin Young and Lee Stott. Also, one of the attractions was a solo, Indian Love Call, by Mona Mattingly. She is married to the band leader. Hop (Norma) and Yaqui (June) are living happily together in a double lodge. It is rather crowded with all their children, but they have a good time. Punkin has a little Jack-O-Lantern (son). Lee is raising his own band and quite a lot of noise with his family. The taxi driver was patiently waiting for them. They returned to their lodge in the wee hours of the morning. Rising early, in spite of their late evening, they breakfasted and were soon on their way to the new hos- Prophecy pital. The desk nurse was Donna Wilcoxon. She is married to Dr. Tom. We hear he’s a good Dr. We were shown around by Barbara Adams. She gave up Chevies for the career in white. Of course, horses still have first place in her heart. After their hospital tour, they decided to visit the school. They interrupted class, and Lillie Canterbury was rather disgusted with them, but we don’t think she minded too much. They were surprised to find Wilbur Messersmith in the Principal's office. He and Lillie went to college together and got their master in English. Back at Muskhogen, they asked the Chief the best place to get some laundry done. He said, Washoan. They found it only a few blocks from the hotel. The girl at the desk couldn’t give them the information they wanted. The managers appeared on the scene. Corrine Wells and Frances Nea villi It didn’t take long for them to straighten things out. Corrine marriedthat Middletown farmer. She keeps pretty busy trying to raise them Cheaper by the Dozen, and helping out at the laundry. Frances has chargeof most of the laundry, as her husband is employed there, too. They lunched at the Montezuma again and went from there to do a little shopping. The Shawnee Dress Shoppe was the first stopping place. Frances Rogers was right on the job. Phyllis Myers designs the best in Indian frocks, and Frances sells them. Their husbands go: roped into the job of sewing the dresses. They get along fine. While sightseeing, they came upon a huge used-jet lot. Mary Jo and Bud are selling planes and raising little Good-sons as a sideline. They asked what brand was topmost on the list of jets. Fords naturally. They had an invitation out to supper that evening. Bob Chastain took them out toa ranch.Mary Ann Noonan and DavePrimm were to be the hosts. Bob runs a butcher shop in connection witli Dave's sheep ranch. Mary Ann just raises a family. Dot and Red are trying to revive the old Indian Mission, and are doing a pretty good job. After supper at the ranch, they attended church there. The children are junior revivers. They revive you all right! The two-day journey soon came to a close. They believed it to be a success, though, as they saw a 11 their old gang. They arrived home, talked it over, and decided to return. Now they are all living happily ever after I 19 Corrine Wei Is hAory Ann oonoo Phyllis Myers Papooses Barbara Adams Charles Boone Louise Pittman __________I Mary Ann Freeman Pat Watts Mona Mattingly Larry Wasilewski Wilbur Messersmith Lillie Canterbury Walter Bryant Donna Beverly Showalter Joyce Contrail Donna Ingram Frances Rogers ROW I: Music, Music, Music, Doin’ What Comes Naturally, Whistle While You Work. This class competed with the freshmen and juniors in selling magazines. Even though they were beaten, they netted a sizable profit. This party was a result of their magazine drive. The class was divided into two teams with a captain, Sharon Jackson and Margery Young, for each team.
