 How different student life is today compared to that of the Academy! The classes were much smaller because the enrollment never exceeded 2 I 8 students. Compared to our 1200 students this seems a mere drop in the bucket. Our equipment for teaching is more extensive and our teachers are better educated. Our learning surpasses that of the Academy by far. The Academy was void of all conveniences. Today our schools are equipped with water, heating, and toilet facilities, as well as with television. movies and records. The Academy seems almost crude to our advanced methods. Although the differences between the Academy and Athens High School are many the purpose of both is identical: the purpose being to prepare their students for life.
