jfoarcf of C cfucation Due to a reorganization of the Athens school district, the format of the Board of Education has changed. For fourteen years, the district has consisted of Athens Borough, Athens Township, Sheshe-quin Township and Ulster Township. Now, the Smithfield-Ridgebury-Ulster school district has been joined to it. Because of extensive revisions mandated by the state, the board now consists of nine members as opposed to the twenty members of previous years. Seven of these members are from the original Athens Area Joint Board of Education and two are from the S.R.U. Board. The members from Athens are: Dr. J. Clifton Lynch, Dr. Ralph B. Gregory, Robert Fraley, Carl Morris, Harlan J. Rowe, Ray Fenton Murphy, and J. W. Watson. The members from S.R.U. are Laurence R. Kingsley and Elmo A. Owen. Mrs. Celia Arnold, though not a member of the board, is the board secretary and has been so for eighteen years. Her years of service are greatly appreciated. 10
