JUHIUR BHHD The experiences of the Junior and Senior Bands of Athens High School will never be forgotten. Most of the members can recall moments trying toplay the first note on their new instru- ment and completing the first book, so a more advanced one could be started. Another big thrill was being admitted to the Junior Band. This band is now under the direction of Mr. All- ford, our new assistant band director, who also does much of the lesson work. The next big step and the one most re- membered by all the members is the advancement to the Athens High School Senior Band. Now the eighth graders enjoy the same privileges as the Seniors. These next five years right up to graduation time will be full of exciting things such as football games, concerts, parades, plus playing for many other activities such as County, District and possibly State Band.

Among the musical groups at Athens are found the senior high mixed chorus and the seventh and eighth grade chorus, both under the direction of Miss Wood. The younger group meets during activity periods. It is composed of thirty seventh and eighth grade students who sing two-part music. Most of their appearances are in junior high school assemblies. The senior high mixed chorus is a group of fifty voices singing four-part music. Performances are given in the Christmas Concert, in the spring variety show, and at commencement. From the senior chorus are chosen delegates for county and district choruses, as well as Triple Trio members. Mem- bers of chorus chosen to go to district chorus this year were Nancy Storelli, Janet Griswold, Betty Kjelgaard, and Jim Ben- nett. A chorus board acts in representing the entire group in planning the program for the Christmas Concert. These elected members form and appoint committees for decorations and staging. il JUHIUH IIHUHUS IAS'
