Miss Joyce Patterson, after winning the first prize in the National Pie Baking Contest, held in Washington, D. C, last week, was congratulated by Pennsylvania's first Lady Senator, Miss Pearle Maslin. The recent cooking contest directed by Elsie Hager for the benefit of the U. S. O., proved Flossie Bradley as all-State Champion with Lucille Merrill as a very close “runner-up.” Gerald Callear, Secretary of Agriculture, has stopped in Athens to visit his parents before going to Chicago to attend the Agricultural Exhibition Show. Mavis Case. Mildred Campbell, and Theresa Chambers have gone into business which is called “The Six C’s,” or “The Case, Campbell, Chambers, Cat Cleaning Company.” Athens seems to be quite an athletic town. Shirley Thrasher, Mary Jane Farr, and Ruth Hall have been honored by being asked to play on the “All-American” Football Team.
