His Message “The starting point of advancement in the world is knowing where you are going, why you are going, whether the purpose is really worthwhile, and how you plan to get there. With a purpose determined, stick to it until you arrive.” This recent suggestion from an expert industrial personnel counselor sums up very briefly but truthfully some important guides for young people just finishing their high school courses. In these days of abnormal conditions which are present everywhere, there is a temptation to take things as they are, to let fate decide, to leave high school with a feeling of helplessness and that nothing can be done about it. Members of the Class of 1943, 1 wish to counteract this general attitude and to emphasize that you can do a great deal on your own part to prepare yourself to earn and achieve success. This is no time to surrender to circumstances. Continue your education all you possibly can and determine to prepare yourself better for whatever type of work you prefer and are capable of doing. Government and industry both want young men and women with education and preparation. May your determination to steer your course and not to drift be rewarded by the securing of a desirable place in life’s work and success in your endeavors. Eugene E. Crkdiford Supervising Principal
