Junior Class The fall of ’42 saw the beginning of an exciting school year for the class of ’43. We emerged a somewhat smaller class, but still undaunted and determined to make the most of our opportunities and to make our mark in the halls of fame of A. H. S. So far we have succeeded admirably. Knowing well that to be successful a class must have its leaders, we lost no time in choosing the following officers: President, Leon Daniels; Vice-President, Harold Weller; Secretary, Joyce Patterson; Treasurer, Fred Fuller. Our first few class meetings were devoted to preparing for our Sophomore Welcoming Dance and to choosing the pattern for our class rings. The former was highly successful, making a noticeable increase in our treasury. Arrangements were also made to operate the candy vending machines. The Junior Play cast for the play “For Her C-H-E-ild’s Sake,” a comedy mellcr-drayma, was chosen. The play which was directed by Miss Smith, was an overwhelming success when presented March 14. On March 17 the Juniors had the privilege of sponsoring the St. Patrick’s Day Dance. As a fitting climax to the year the Junior Prom was given in May in honor of the Seniors. The “Esquires” from Mansfield proved to be a great attraction. Everything considered, we have made a successful journey thus far and have every reason to look forward with great hopes to our Senior year. DeWitt, Callear, M. Sophomore Class The class of “44” marched into the building looking forward to another year of work and fun. After meeting all of our friends and talking over the summer vacation we proceeded to our various classrooms and tried to accustom ourselves to our new schedules. Later in the year, we had our first class meeting. Nominations for class officers and members to represent us at the Student Council were held. Officers were elected as follows: President, Jack Gallagher; Vice President, Richard Finn; Secretary and Treasurer, Lois Weller. Results of the vote for the Student Council members were: for the one year term—Dawn Slater and Rodney Humphrey; for the two year term-Robert Patterson and Jean Hunsinger. In September the Juniors gave us a welcoming dance which was very well attended. Everyone enjoyed round and square dance music which Fraley’s orchestra provided. Along in the mild month of February, our class also held a Valentine Pre-Lcnten dance. This dance was well attended considering the epidemic of measles. At the sports’ assembly program, our Sophomore boys received their share of the honors. The ones receiving letters were: Jack Gallagher, James Hammond, and Robert Smith. These letters were well earned with honest and hard effort. Mr. Hazard called a special meeting of our class at which we were informed that if we ordered our rings this year we would get them with a 10c c discount. Our guest was a salesman who showed us a fine selection of rings. Several of us are looking forward to purchasing one of these. As the warm days of spring roll around and the fish start biting, we long for the wide open spaces. As we all want to pass, we hope the teachers will cooperate with us in gaining this end, so that next year we shall again appear, but this time as aspiring Juniors. Raulerson, Hannon, J.
