HISTORY CF THE CLASS CF l94O ln the fall of l93o on hundred one memoer of tne Cl ss of 40 started o a four years Journey rnto the w1lderness of tne Future Charles Lucy was choser as our leader and the scouts selected were Carl lfforrls ard lean Donlon Although we enJoyed ourselve along the way we also made some Jntellectual advances We progressed as we expected and arrrfed at 'de Soph more Settlemen Jn the fall of l937 The flrst thlng We d1d there was to choose new leaders Our chref scout for tne next lap of the ourref was Mary Bassage Her arde were Genevreve l-lorfa lanrce lvfack and Herman Vtfanzo Our stay at the settlement was made very pleasant A Welcorntng Dance was glven for our benefrt whlch we enJoyed very much It served as a d1vers1on from the hard shrps of the Journey Because we had survrved true frrst lap of the trek so success fully we were allowed to select medals of achtevem nt We left the Sophomore Settlement wrth hroh sprrrts and renewed courage for the last half of our eyplorahon Deep Jn the wtlderness of learnrng we came upon the Iunlor Tradrng Post Nothrng could daunt us now' We were seasoned explorers and tnerefore earned the rrght to select rrngs that snowed We were travelers of three years standlng We enJoyed our stay there but we had to Genev1eve l-loffa and Ianrce Mack as her scouts Before We left to show our apprecratlon for such hosprtallty as N9 had re erved we produced a play lt was a mystery play on wh1ch we worked very hard and as a consequence of our efforts 1t was a success The last nrght of our stay at the settlement we enterta1ned at a dance 'We vorked hard at th1s Iunlor Prom and were happy to know that everyone had a good trme After travelrng for another year crosslng rrvers of drffrculty and taktng obstacles wrtn a smlle we came rn srght of the end of our Journey wrth sp1r1ts hrgher than ever Durrng thrs last year we traveled under the leadershrp of Donald Page and hrs a1des Barbara Lambert Lourse May and Mary Bass age At th1s post we became socrally rnclmed We enterta1ned Wtth the Sen1or Mrnstrels whrch was a great success gave the St Patrrclc s Day Dance and as evrdence of our dramatrc ab1l1ty gave the Sen1or Play a hrlarrous comedy ln the four years of travelrng we suffered a few casualtres from one hundred one members of our expedrtron there remarned seventy three None per1shed but some had stayed at stops along the way because they lacked strength for the Journey or d1d not desrre to explore further At last carne the day when me were rewarded for our four years of work We had becorre accustorned to worlctng together but now ea h one must do hrs own work 1 C, 9 ..
