In their lost year at AHS, the seniors were very active ond kept busy all year long. As well as porricipoting in school organizations ond clubs, taking port in sports, ond studying hard, the seniors were busy making prepara- tions for their future. There were some rough decisions to moke, senior pictures were purchased, announcements were bought, ond cops ond gowns to be ordered. In the midst of oil this, each senior wos anxiously awaiting that moment when they would walk across the stage to receive that long awaited diploma thor signified success after oil those years in high school. One hundred ond sixty AHS groduotes received their diplomos. Due to roiny weather, the exercises were held in the gymnasium. The traditional oak leaves were carried by junior girls as the bond played Academic Procession. The invocation was given by Stephanie Kohler, class treasurer. Sheri Weinmeister. secretary, welcomed parents ond friends. The address was given by Ken Mercer, president; and Lydia Vessel gave the benediction. Taught by Mr. Stepanich, the students learned to take pictures and also learned how to develop and print their own film. Sparks Shoplifting Prevention Campaign The Distributive Educotion class of 1982 did many projects and attended many contests, adding to a very productive year. Projects included selling stuffed animals, cheese, sausage, magazine subscriptions, held a bake sale on the moll, ond sold sloppy joes at a dinner in which they sponsored. In October, the class attended on Eastern Region Con- ference which prepared them for the stare conference on April 4, 5, and 6 in which they did very well.
