KID DAY 76 The annual Class Day activities, or as we more commonly know it Kid Day, for graduating seniors was held May 13. The day started out with breakfast in the Baptist Church basement. After eating they prepared for the assembly which was held in the audi- torium. Included in the assembly were skits such as: AHS Squares, a beauty contest, the presentation of the gift and class banner and Lets Make a Senior. After the assembly came the Class Day Parade which marked the end of Kid Day . (TOP RIGHT) Robert Whitely, AHS 1976 Kid Day Sweetheart, smiles for the camera. As the orches- tra played a processional, the capped and gowned seniors marched in to hear Rev. Lo- renzo Finnell pray the invocation. Ms. Liz Woodward read a Scripture selection. BACCALAUREATE SERVICES 1976 Rev. John Wright delivers the sermon from the auditorium dais. 29 COMMENCEMENT EXCERCISES In the welcoming remarks of graduation it was pointed out that the Senior Class was quite unique. It was the first time in over thirty years that any class had graduated from the Amelia Earhardt Stadium. It would be the last class to graduate from the Ingall's Junior-Senior High School. Commencement exercises began promptly at 8:00 p.m. on May 20, 1976 with fabulous weather. The evening was filled with mixed emotions. Seniors stood together as a group for the last time at commencement with diplomas in hand, before going separate ways. It was a special night, and will never be forgotten. BELOW: Barb Rizer was chosen to give the main ad- dress and wish seniors much success. Senior Class President Ed Mercer called roll. Vice-President Karen Hays prayed benediction. Secretary Vicki Blair gave the welcoming remarks and Treasurer David Allen gave the invocation. As the Processional starts, the Class of 1976 winds its way around the practice field, up the stairs, across the football field, on its last walk together. JUNIOR-SENIOR PICNIC 76 The Jr.-Sr. Picnic was once again held at Sugar Lake. The Juniors and Seniors involved themselves in activities such as volleyball, horse- shoes, baseball, and a tug of war between the classes, which was nat- urally won by the Class of '76. After eating the traditional lunch of fried chicken, students were free to do as they wished. (TOP RIGHT) Junior girls enjoy a boat ride before lunch. Other decorations con- sisted of rainbow candle centerpieces for each table. As promsters entered the hall, they crossed over a small bridge and were greeted by Sandy Bartlett, Mark Dennis, Gay Oswald, Scott Enge- britson, and sponsors Mr. and Mrs. Ken Reichle. Refreshments consisting of punch and cookies were also provided. Special after prom breakfest party was pro- vided by the sponsors and parents in the basement of the hall. Eg ■ VARSITY FOOTBALL The Redmen fell one game short of a winning season for the 1975 campaign, finishing with 4 wins against 5 losses. Coaches Ken Smart, John Sullivan, and Ken Riechle helped the Redmen to prove that they could play with any of the larger schools in the Centennial League. However, it was a satisfying season with many ups to match the downs. The highlight of the season was a 34-6 Homecoming Romp over Hiawatha and the lowpoint was an exciting overtime loss to Sea- men. THE TRIBE Pep Club Changes Its Name The new Tribe started out with a booming year but slowly dwindled to almost nothing. The Tribe had a large amount of enthusiasm during football season, but it slacked off as the winter sports began. Red and gold shirts were the only uniforms and they could be worn with jeans, overalls, or just by themselves! With the Tribe being co-ed, it attracted quite a few new members. Under the leadership of Norma Wilson, the halls were decorated with spirit signs and crepe paper in our traditional colors of red and gold before each game. Thanks to the Tribe members who came and gave our athletes the extra support they needed to be winners. The camera catches Tribe officers Jane Wohlgemuth, treasurer, Norma Wilson, acting president, and Vivian Matthews, secretary, displaying their school spirit by trying to do a cheer. This year's Tribe sponsors were Mr. Larry Allen and Ms. Sharon Morley. We want two points, chants the crowd! ! “A”-TEAM CHEERLEADERS Varsity cheerlead- ers, LaRita Benson, Cindi Denton, Gail Honer (Head), Brenda Smart, Joyce Smart, and Jeanne Wohlge- muth, had an exciting year attending both the State and Grand State tournaments. On- ly through the help of the school and Booster Club were they able to go. Another important time for the girls was at camp where they came home with four excellent awards. Much enthusiasm and spirit was shown by these girls at all events throughout the year. Brenda Smart and Cindi Denton.
