Sophomores The highlight of the Sophomore activities this year was the Sadie Hawkins Day Dance, given January I0th. This dance was held in the gym which was decorated in the traditional Dog-Patch style. Prizes for the best costumes went to Allan Wallace and Mary Lou Rominger. Class rings were selected on January l0th by a committee of six, consisting of Raquel Sapien, Elsie Crews, Pat Moore, Lorne Ferguson, Robert Ferguson, and Chuck Kuhnle. The rings are to be an exact duplicate of the Class of '48 rings. They will have a miniature tower mounted on a rose gold placque which covers the top ofthe ring. We ended the semester with a swimming party at the community pool. Class officers are: Chuck Kuhnle, president: Raquel Sapien, vice-president: Pat Jarvis, sec- retary: Richard Martinez, treasurer. The advisors were Mrs. M. Hutchison and Mr. L. Oglesby. FIFTH ROW: Manuel Luis, Wayne Perry, Jack Neal, Max Dee, Kay Nichols. Mary Chelquist, Gene Warren, Bill Cot- ter, Dick Black, Tommy Slankard, Wayne Mattice. Freshmen The largest Freshman class in the history of AUHS entered school in September of '46. We seemed very sure of ourselves and we wern't going to let any Senior run over us. Oh yeah? We sort of had our ideas changed after initiation. We actually have some brain children in our midst, Dona Edinger and Mary Lou Alley, who became California Scholarship Federation members the second semester. We also have some pretty good athletes. Johnny Pyl and Joe Estrada were good basket- ball players and Henry Parson was a credit to his class as a halfback on the football team. Our class officers for this year are: Norlan Peterson, president: Nelms Finch, vice-president: .Emma Jean Frenes, secretary: Henry Parson, treasurer. Our advisors were Miss C. Burkhardt and Mr. R.
