Senior Hisfory ln fhe fall of '43 a very meek and shy class enfered fhe halls of AUHS only fo be mef by a group of very high and mighfy Seniors. Affer sfruggling fhrough a very fhoroughly planned ini- fiafion we felf welcome in our new surroundings. The Seniors had af lasf decided fo become our friends. Our Freshman year proved fo be very prosperous under fhe leadership of our presidenf, Charles Herndon, and class officers. We raised money for fhe local Red Cross fund, sponsored a Spring dance which proved fo be a lol' of fun, and had a Treasure Hunf which fhe whole class en- ioyed. Besides having fun we are very proud fo say fhaf fhree of our classmafes became mem- bers of fhe C.S.F. Dorofhy Dulifz won fhe second prize in fhe Lions Club Speakers confesf and Bonnie Andrews -won fhe confesf for Vicfory Queen. Our fhanks fo our class advisors, Mrs. J. A. The AUHS library was complefely disguised as a Chinese Pagoda wifh a wishing well, Chinese figures and a very realisfic dragon, all prepared by fhe Juniors and our class advisors. The Prom furned ouf fo be one of fhe mosf original and successful in fhe hisfory of AUHS. Thus. feeling very proud of fhe accomplishmenfs of our Junior year, we became Seniors. Af lasf, affer waifing fhree years, we finally gof fo inifiafe a group of bashful Freshies. We honored fhem af fhe Freshman Recepfion affer an inifiafion which proved fo be loads of fun.
