council This year’s student council met weekly to express student views and discuss school propaganda. Their efforts were directed mainly at promoting total stu¬ dent body participation in extra-curricular activi¬ ties. One such activity, was the Elderly Lunch Pro¬ gram, in which the community’s senior citizens had the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely “lunch in the company of high school students. Several ideas were presented by guest speakers who appeared through¬ out the year. The student council was also the driv¬ ing force in promoting student body participation in the Red Cross Blood Drive. Thanks to their efforts Astoria High School was able to attain a record high turnout of blood donors. The Astor Post is published by the Journalism I and II classes once each month. Through the efforts of many talented students, they put out an interesting and exciting pa¬ per.
