ON GRADUATION Lang l've waited for this day, Long and long l've toiled for it, All these years of weary school It was for this day I bore it. Boy, am I glad that l'm leaving After all these years of trying -lf l am so doggone happy, Why the heck, then, am I crying? Betty Wootton. With the regatta fire, the splendid pavilion commencements went up in smoke. This class will have to be content with the auditorium although last year's class experienced one of the best ever at the now non-existent recreational center. Roy Seeborg is, undoubtedly, one of the main contenders among the seniors for a niche in Astoria High's Hall of Fame. For two years he has made the All-State basketball team, and he has been very active in student affairs, as editor of the Astor Post during his junior year and as president of ther Senior class. I-Ie was the receiver of the Rotary Outstanding Junior Boy cup. Another go-getter is Miss Dorothy Walker, president of the Girls' League and recipient of the D. A. R. Good Citizenship Pilgrimage pin. Jane Spalding reaches the Who's Who via the Rotary Outstanding Junior Girl cup, and a Regatta princessship. Three more editors are on the senior roll call, Doris Nordstrom, Zephyrus, and Gael Murdock and Jack Wittliff, Astor Post. Student body president Carl Reith led his class through their perilous sopho- more year and is a football player. Some of the shyer seniors feared the camera, so we hereby record their names for posterity: Billy Hamilton, Edward Jasper, Emmett Jasper, Bernice Long- tain, David McClean, Rodney Miller, Kenneth Moore, and Robert Pitkanen.
