Some of our activities this year included a swimming night at Western Illinois University at Macomb, freshman initiation, Christmas exchange, and heartsister exchange. We are planning a banquet for our mothers which also includes the presentation of the G.A.A. awards. We have played softball, basketball, ping pong, speedball, volleyball, aireal darts, and badminton. Joy Wilson. High School Band The band members welcomed a new band director this year. The band, played and gave a show at the football gamesg gave a concert at Homecoming besides marching a.nd playingg played at basketball gamesg gave a Christmas program with chorus and grade bandg attended the Fulton County Band Festivalg went to Contestg gave a concert for the schoolg had a Spring Concert and also had a banquet. The band also chose two candidates to go to the All-State Music Activities, Kathryn Kost and Portia Merrill, Kathryn was the only one that got to go. This was held at Peoria for band students from anywhere in Illinois . This year a new award is being given called the Arlon Award. It ls a national award a.nd is given by the Sorosis Club of Astoria.
