To think of our years in college as being simply an intermediary period between dependence and independence, as a constant struggle pit¬ ting us against significant minds of both the past and the present, or as a battle ground where there exists the seemingly never-ending clash bet¬ ween student and grade-point average, is an erroneous idea in the eyes of education, and especially contrary to the aims set forth by Assumption College. Four years here have found us not only being targets for St. Thomas ' primary purpose of education - the cultivation of the intellect - but also as men with a firm basis to as good Christian laymen, and so] - diers for Christ. - 28 -
