Page Three ' Underlying all this there is another Life—the Life of Grace in individual souls—less apparent than the other, perhaps, but of far greater significance in the long run. Interspersed through these pages you will find, in short paragraphs, an explanation of this Life within us. (On the divider pages, you will note sketches repre¬ senting channels by which this Life comes to us—the Sacraments.) We believe that any record of life at Assumption should include some references to this higher Life—without which all our activity would be much ado about nothing , but which, remembered, makes us scorn to change our state with kings . ABOUT THE THEME . . . Here at Assumption there is abundant evidence of activity in many spheres—a constant round of academic endeavour, with attendant assignments and exams—plenty of healthy exercise and keen competition in athletics—a well balanced program of social events and all the rest. This we have recorded for you in the following pages.

Bishop of London My Dear Graduates: May the following lines composed by an Australian veteran of World War I and entitled My Life is in God ' s Hands , help to keep you mindful of your Providential mission in life, and ever docile to the inspirations of grace: Not till the loom is silent And the shutters cease to ply, Shall God unroll the canvas And explain the reason why The dark threads are as needful In the weaver ' s skilful hand, As the threads of gold and silver In the pattern He has planned.
