fv O R I A M LEO GASPARET Leo Gasparet was a student of 10 E during the school year 1950-51. He had been at Assumption for over a year and a half before he became ill. After a few short absences from school he finally became bed-ridden and could not finish his year. His illness gradually became worse and was the cause of his death on December the fourth, 1952. Leo was an A-student as well as an active sportsman. He played house league football in his freshman year and had a keen interest in many sports. Nor were his interests devoted exclusively to sports, for he studied piano for three years and was in training for a post on the Reporter staff. Leo came to Assumption after attending St. Angela, Immaculate Concep¬ tion, and De La Salle schools. He was a member of the church of St. Angela Merici and his ambition was to become a priest. He had many close friends at Assumption who miss him very much. May his soul rest in peace. Jim Kennedy. Page 29 i

F 0 0 T 6 A L L The High School Raiders of 1952 proved to be one of the best teams that Assumption has ever had. Under the superb coaching of Fathers Armstrong, Cullen, and Lewis, the boys played as a team anil won as a team. This year’s squad, led by co-captains, Bob Kefgen and Ed Raedle, credited themselves with four wins, two loses, and one tie, including all exhibition and play-off games. The boys were up-an-going from the opening whistle and this accounts for the fine record shown below. The Patterson Panthers were privileged to give them their defeat of the season. The Raiders ended up in a tie for second place with the Kennedy Clippers, but lost out in the semi-finals. However, the lads in purple never lost their morale in any game, whether they were winning or losing. In every game a well conditioned and spirited team could be observed from the stands. At the end of the season, Fr. Arm¬ strong was thoroughly convinced that expert coaching always pays off.
