After commenting on many outstanding virtues ifi the makeup of modern youth, a wise man detected a flaw frequently found in the men of tomorrow. “Our youth lack gratitude”, he said. Whether such a general remark he true or false, it is worthwhile pondering. Does such a statement describe your attitude to God, to your parents, to your Church, to your city, to your country, to your friends, to your school? If you fail to see why you should thank God for the abundant blessings you have received from Him and from what your elders have given you, there is something wrong with your education. I prefer to think that youth of today are so excited in imagining the glorious future that awaits them, that they do not think to show gratitude for the past. If they were confronted with the question: “Are you grateful?” I am sure ninety-nine percent of them could honestly answer, “Yes, of course I am grateful, but look what there is yet to be done.” So I would urge you to pursue steadily in the future what you envision for the world’s improvement; you will one day look back with the wise man and be grateful for the past. Your education then will be much more complete. God bless you! Page 14
