A SHADE MORE fa ... or how a school, like a yearbook, depends on the al- mighty dollar to keep things afloat. All right, you've convinced me how great all the parts of this school are — the sports, clubs, people and so on, but just how does a school survive in these times? Well, it's not easy, I can tell you that. It takes a lot of organization, things have to be run professionally. Money is key when you talk about keeping a school alive, and getting the money can require some cre- ativity. It's true that tuition covers a lot of expenses, but what's left has to be made up with fundraising activities throughout the year. Stuff like the Spaghetti Supper, the Silent Auction and the basketball and football games all bring in the bucks. “So if that's how the school does it, what's a year- book like this have to do to raise money? Simple enough. The staff sold books in advance to students in the beginning of the year, then they sold all the ads you'll find on the next 20 or so pages. The businesses who bought ads helped foot the bill for all the expenses that came with putting together a yearbook and kept the price of the book down. I never knew there was so much to the financial aspect of things, it's so business-like.
