Two great traditions are about to merge to form an even greater to- morrow. Just as the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers join to form the great Father of Waters and sweep toward the sea, so will Im- maculate Conception Academy and St. Ambrose Academy join to fulfill a new and greater des- tiny for the Catholic people of this community through the cre- ation of Assumption High School. Mary, the Queen of Heaven, in- terceded with her Son, Christ the King, that the next 100 years might be as fruitful and good as the past 99 years. Grant that they who are the last of the glorious line of teachers at I. C. A. and St. Ambrose Academy may now become the pioneers in the new. May history extol their deeds and their sacrifices a hundred years from now. The Immaculate Conception Acad emy and St. Ambrose Academy have fulfilled their sublime and nobel destinies; long live Assump- tion High School. Take from the Immaculate Con- ception Academy's 1958 Gradua- tion Address by Msgr. Maurice Dingman, currently Bishop Ding- man, Diocese of Des Moines. a bicentennial Edition- .. fcudA ___ L u2aAiâÂŁao .. The King and His Court were announced at 10:00, with the worthy Steven Mailer accepting his crown, (upper right). The other members of his court, (center), were: Eugene McGivern, Andrew Spellitich, Timothy Whitehead, James Bush, and Roberto Lopez. Additional nominees included: Kevin Perry, Richard Siegfried, John Gusta, Joseph Regano and Craig Balzer. The dance was chaperoned by parents and faculty. Of course Mr. Sun- derbruch and Mr. Miller were on hand, ready for any difficulties that might arise. Natty Scratch provided the music, (lower center), while all present danced to their hearts content, (preceding page, lower left). Turn- about 76 proved to be a very successful event. Just ask the young men who had the pleasure of being escorted! 19 SPIRIT OF 76 The Spaghetti Supper, this year was a big sucess despite the unplan- ned weather. Serving time was from 3:30 to 8:30 on Sunday, Jan. 25. The day began with a mass, the spaghetti making and a variety of chores needed for a sucessful event. The faculty chairmen, who deserve a lot of credit, were Fr. Phillips G Mrs. DeVries. Pictures on this page: Top R.âSe- nior girls do what they love most! The large cast under the direction of Dave Watson began rehearsal in early January to perfect their skills. With Jim Steward taking the roll of Conrad Birdie, the play begins with a group of girls screaming at the sight of Birdie. As a take off on Elvis Presley, Birdie is the famed rock singer who has everything it take to catch the crowds. The only problem is he is drafted into the army. His farewell to the world is a good-bye kiss to one of his fan club members, Kim, played by Barb Bushur, who lives in Sweet- apple, Ohio. Birdie becomes disgusted with life and lives it up out on the town with the town's teenagers. His agent, Albert Peterson (Jim Bush) and secretary (Cindy Czupka) find the situation rather frustrating. 98 BYE, BYE, BIRDIE 99 ROLL OF HONOR ACCUMULATED AVERAGES FIRST HONORS (4.00) Seniors Freshmen Lisa Britt 4.000 Christine Caffery 4.000 Juniors Sophomores Diane Devine Mary Figge 4.000 4.000 Katherine Saskowskl 4.000 Joanne Gosser 4.000 Sheila Liebscher 4.000 Julie Kroy 4.000 Irene Prior 4.000 Charles Miller 4.000 Anne Whitehead 4.000 Mary Resnick 4.000 SECOND HONORS (3.5-3.9) Seniors Mary Ptacek 3.870 Diane Zack 3.743 Sue Brovnson 3.833 Patricia Muhs 3.742 Terrance Breheny 3.925 Barbara Ualsh 3.833 Kristi Clements 3.728 Dennis Wllkerson 3.896 Kent Belli 3.819 Mary Lyngholm 3.728 Eileen Grady 3.892 David Resnick 3.768 Michael Roche 3.703 Greg Grimes 3.875 Mary Killion 3.764 Lori Welman 3.701 Daniel Zack 3.864 Patricia Kearns 3.761 Mark Nahra 3.694 Mary Pullella 3.835 Donald Sprosty 3.738 Ann E. Tho we dwell in the present, yet we forever live in the Future, drawn on by some strange compulsion like the oceans that respond to the tides. It must be that the Future is more than the unrevealed, the unhappened, the undisclosed; else a little discovery would satisfy the soul. No, the Future is divinityâd laboratory where the ideal is being converted into the real. We are lured to this laboratory by the call for helpers whereby we may join our little lives with great issues, far-flung visions, stupendous causes. Tho we are here today and vanquished on the morrow, still the cause we have helped make real and live among men from out the shadow-land of the ideal, will give us enough confidence to trust for further realization whatever the Future holds within its secret bosom. Quench not the Lure of the Future. It is the gateway to a life of insight, understanding, serenity and peace! W. Truely the class of '76 is no exception. Looking back at my four years of high school, complete with the happiness, heartaches, beauty, and friendships that come with personal growth, it is hard to believe that these times are about over. VVc have grasped onto the lmowledge that Assumption has offered us and from this formed our thoughts, values and opinions which will be a part of us for the rest of our lives. The many roads that people take in the future will all trace back somewhere along the line to Assumption which will always remain a very special part of us. Remember.......Those innocent carefree years as underclassmen when a hall pass was; a thing of the past (little id we know of the future to come)'and a day consisted of four hours of cards in the lounge with a couple of classes sprinkled it} between....die first football victory over Central in 13 years in 1972} .... Government in Papa Ray'i class where we learned that our country was governed by the people except in 08....Those crazy pep-rally skits with Twinkle 'roes Sheejjj, arid Kathy Solis as Mr. Loiehcer.... .Mike Early wrestling his wayttc a HSiTd place ;-âSla|e. ..
