Glee club members directed by Sister Lau- rette devoted many of their own free hours to the group’s success. Performances were given above at the V. A. Hospi- tal while many caroled throughout rooms of patients as shown at right. Whether recognition came in the form of a smile, applause, or a Superior rating, members found their experiences rewarding. 46 SPRING CONCERT PEP CLUB ACTION Singing Peppy School Song! Anxiously awaiting dinner. Students and teachers enjoy the supper. The boys were acknowledged at the dance. Students and dates enjoy the dance immensely. STUDENT COUNCIL The sludent council officers for the 1969-70 school year are: Terry Hook- er-Vice President, Julie Grantham- Secretary, Bernie Heiser President, Sister Sheila Sponsor, Tom Hinman Treasurer. Not pictured are the Sopho- more representative Cyndie Roost, and Freshman representative Donna Deans. One of the student council projects this year was the lounge. They pro- vided the pop and candy machines and the furniture for it. They kept the machines filled and made sure the classes took turns cleaning it. The student council put on many soc hops to earn money. They sponsored the Court banquet and dance to honor the senior basketball players. To help the eager students write. Journalism was introduced into the curriculum. The interesting class was taught by Sister Carol. A dark room was set up where the students learned to develop film and print pictures. Many enjoyable hours were spent there by the staff. VIP’S Terry Hooker, Steve Stewart, Kris Scheopner, and Mary Academy to serve as boy and girl candidates to Boy and Chase were chosen from the Junior class of Assumption Girl State competition in Chadron. This year the Betty Crocker Homemakers Award went to Kathy Strong. The winner is determined by the Senior girls scoring highest in a practical knowledge test. Jacque Witte, Julie Grantham, and John Stewart were cho- sen as this year’s Outstanding Teenagers of Assumption Academy. 53 ★ GOOD MORNING STAR SHINE ★ The Sophomore class served the delicious dinner cooked by the mothers of the Junior class. Following the meal Cynthia Parish and duo entertained by singing the theme song and other numbers. The highlight of the banquet was the guest speaker Joe Kanarick who spoke on his most memorable prom with Gertrude Bombgarten. ★ ★ 54 One of the main attractions at this year’s Junior-Senior Prom was the gazebo pictured above. ROYALTY The fountain above was a fascinating sight that ev- eryone stopped to watch. Below students enjoy dancing under the bright stars and pink and blue crepe paper to the beat of “The Duck Soup”. The juniors are to be complimented on a job very well done. 55 GRADUATION VALEDICTORIAN Jacque Witte accepts congratulations above.
