The Assumption Academy Presents It’s 1968 PANTHER To these people of whom we are most proud, we the Students of Assumption Academy, hereby dedicate this annual. We wish to express our deepest gratitude and sincere appreciation to two of our best friends and hope they will continue to give us the help and guidance they have shown through the preceding years. We owe them much for their efficiency in guidance and assistance. Unfortunately we were not able to get pictures of the fol- lowing Student Teachers: Mrs. Moore, who taught Sociology and English the second nine weeks of this year. Miss Kiolbasa, who taught Physics and Biology, also the sec- ond nine weeks. Mrs. Lucero, who taught Shorthand and Typing the last nine weeks of this year. MARY MC GANNON “Jane” Talks a lot; likes jokes and boys; a true nut; hurries to check the mail at noon. BETTY SCHLICKBERND Best stock broker; likes fun; reads a lot. JUDY DEANS Laughs very easily; outspoken and easy-going; scholarly. RAY HENRY Shy and quiet; knows about farming; reads Western stories. ANN SOESTER Has a habit of making left turns and u-turns; hobby is collecting Chadron Records from home. CATHY MORRALL Hearty laugh; loves to tell jokes; drives good when feeling so hap- py; likes to fist-fight. JOAN EARL Our editor; juicy-fruit is her favorite; never quiet; “sixty bucks worth.” DAVE KATEN Cherry-blend is his favorite; carries his pipe to class; never on time, but gets away with it. Mary Ellen Chase and Ann Soester sang a duet at the concert and received an excellent rating. Catholic Action Today The CAT’S Club just originated this year. It is a combin- ation of the McAuley Club and the Citizenship Club. The sponsors were Sister Sheila Marie and Sister Rose Maureen. President was Mike Deans and Dan Deans was Vice-Presi- dent, with Janice Morrall as Secretary-Treasurer. The Club sponsored a masquerade dance, which they in- vited all the Catholic students from Alliance. Rushville, Crawford, and Hay Springs. Prizes were given for the best costumes. Panthers' Roar Staff The NewsPaper Staff this year was headed by Sheryl Hinman. and sponsored by Sister Mary Laurette. The Staff prepared articles and each month they were printed in the Chadron Record. King Jeff and Queen Cathy “Some Enehanted Evening” The “Evening” started out with a supper prepared by the mothers of the Junior Class and served by Julie, Chris, Cathy, Kathy. Diane, John. Dave, John, Dan, and Andy, all members of the Sophomore Class. A Trio from the college provided the entertainment. Jack Miller was the guest speaker. The decorations were done in four shades of green. The “Lower Depths” provided the music at the dance, where Cathy and Jeff were named Queen and King. May Crowning On May 12, Mother’s Day, Nancy Kuhnel, the 1968 May Queen, presented Our Lady with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Nancy was assisted by Carla Lindekin and Marty Marshall. At this time the Seniors had their rings blessed by Father Flinn. Each Senior presented the Blessed Mother with a carnation.
